Energy transition in Hard-to-Abate industries

Max van der Meij

The challenge

Current Hard-to-Abate industries are not just desiring but urgently requiring decarbonisation to adhere to the Paris Agreement. However, decarbonisation demands extensive capital expenses for projects that rely on new infrastructure and underdeveloped technologies. Therefore, investments in these industries have become excessively risky, necessitating immediate mitigation to make them feasible.

The solution

To design a task force that develops a public-private partnership with multiple shareholders to establish risk mitigation, which enables the incorporation of new start-up technologies into existing energy infrastructure.
